We built this firm on a bet about ordinary Kenyans.

In 1994, when most Kenyans had never owned a share, we opened a stockbroking firm on a simple bet: that ordinary people here would invest if someone made it possible. The Capital Markets Authority licensed us in 1995, and in December 2007 we became a fully fledged investment bank.

The bet paid off in public. When Safaricom listed in 2008, we were lead sponsoring broker on a KES 50 billion IPO that turned hundreds of thousands of Kenyans into shareholders for the first time. We have been in the room for the market’s defining transactions ever since, most recently the KES 106.5 billion Kenya Pipeline mandate in 2026. In 2024 we added a fund family of our own, the Faida Unit Trust, led by the OAK Special Fund. Thirty one years in, the bet is unchanged. The clients have multiplied.

We were first onto the Rwanda Stock Exchange.

Faida Securities Rwanda was the first licensed broker at the Rwanda Stock Exchange. Incorporated in 2007, it sponsored the first equity listing on the Rwanda Over the Counter Market, the cross listing of KCB Group in June 2009, and has kept that market liquid ever since. Its record includes the cross listings of Equity Bank and Nation Media Group, the listing of RH Bophelo from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, and the I&M Bank Rwanda rights issue that raised FRW 7.9 billion and closed 12 percent oversubscribed.
